Adastral Square Platinum Jubilee Street party

£1021.16 Raised By You for The Parks Foundation - See Below

This is where you will find all the information about the Adastral Square Platinum Jubilee Street party, as well as All The Pics From The Event, plus your own jubilee celebrations you upload to the ARCH Facebook page.

The Adastral Square Platinum Jubilee Street Party on Saturday 4th June 2022 was a celebration that the whole community could enjoy to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 70th anniversary of her coronation and featured a programme of live music and children’s entertainment plus a focus on the creative arts. ARCH had been awarded £750 from the Arts Council’s Let’s Create Jubilee Fund by Dorset Community Foundation – ensuring that creativity could play an important role in local community celebrations for Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

This event brought the community together to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee in a memorable way. It was organised jointly by ARCH and the Pilot Pub together with the help and support of many other local traders, organisations and individuals who also took part.

Thanks to all the volunteers who fulfilled a number of roles from setting up tables, putting up bunting, marshalling the bouncy castle and many other essential tasks.

The event started at 11.15am which is the same time that 70 years ago the Queen’s Coronation service commenced. There were various craft stalls in the square all decorated in a Jubilee theme and residents attending were encouraged to dress in red, white and blue. The Mayor and Mayoress also attended and as part of their visit presented the prizes for the jubilee colouring competition in the library which you can See By Clicking This Link

As a part of the celebrations ARCH organised a raffle to support the Parks Foundation’s fund-raising efforts following the devastating fire on Saturday 23rd April on Canford Heath Nature Reserve. This fire destroyed over 16.7 hectares of land (the equivalent of 23 international football pitches) the Parks Foundation have been fundraising to support the reserve in collaboration with BCP Council who manage Canford Heath Nature Reserve.

Thank you to all of you who have supported so far – you’ve generously donated £750 to this appeal and on 6th July 2022 ARCH donated a further £216.93 (plus gift aid taking the total to £271.16). This makes a total of £1021.16

Funds raised will be used to:

  • Replace fencing
  • Undertake surveys to understand the species populations and distributions to help us better quantify loses
  • Assist with future management options, such as blocking ditches to rewet mires and create new sand patches to benefit reptiles and invertebrates
  • Erect better signage explaining why the reserve is so important for nature and wildlife
  • Fund volunteer supplies, many of whom have supported us during this catastrophic event.

If you are able to support this much-loved nature reserve, they would really appreciate your donations – YOU CAN DONATE BY VISITING THIS WEBPAGE:

As you can see from the pictures below, the square was made to look fit for the occasion with plenty of bunting. This couldn’t have happened without the many clever and creative people on Canford Heath so thanks for all your hard work!

Many residents brought along their own food to share at trestle tables and others bought food from one of the local traders in the Square. The lunch started with communal singing of the national anthem.   Throughout the day there was a variety of entertainment including live music, a DJ and compere for the day, Punch and Judy show, face painters, bouncy castle, a Gin bar (allegedly the Queens favourite tipple), photo booth with jubilee props and a tombola stall. Lisa and her team from the Pilot were kept very busy serving cream teas and drinks of various kinds to many of the visitors to the event.  As you can see from the pictures below, many local community groups also had an opportunity to showcase their arts and crafts.
