About Us

ARCH (Association of Residents of Canford Heath) is a group of pro-active, positive and productive residents in Canford Heath. Following the “Canford Heath 50” celebrations in 2015, ARCH was created as an unincorporated not for profit Community organisation.

We are an independent, inclusive organisation passionate about our community, where everyone is respected and welcome. There are no membership fees and all residents are welcome to join in with our projects and activities, including our quarterly residents’ coffee mornings in the Canford Heath Library, Mitchell Rd.

ARCH undertakes various community projects and organises events throughout the year. As an example of our project work we are proud to have installed two new 24/7 defibrillators and hosted two training sessions to support the installation. Events have included fundraising quiz nights and overseeing the “Canford Heath Remembers” poppy display.

Community is at the centre of what we do. In addition to undertaking an increasing number of successful project and events; we also give something back to the community. We have given donations to local charities and also have been able to give small grants to some local heath based groups.

As an inclusive organisation, we use a variety of forms of communication keep our residents up to date with what is happening in Canford Heath. In addition to this website we not only use social media, but also print media displayed in some local shops and on our ARCH noticeboards.

ARCH has 5 key aims:

  1. Improve the quality of life and well-being of residents of Canford Heath through creating a sense of community and allowing for opportunities to improve our well-being.
  2. To improve the quality of the local environment and open spaces of Canford Heath.
  3. Giving the residents of Canford Heath a voice, encouraging residents to act on issues which affect us and our community.
  4. Be responsible for distributing part of the accumulated funds to appropriate community groups and causes.
  5. Encourage partnership working to achieve our goals and communication between community groups, stakeholders and residents throughout Canford Heath.
