Light- Up Canford Heath

Canford Heath Community Christmas

The Association of the Residents of Canford Heath (ARCH) are not letting Covid-19 spoil their attempts to bring some festive cheer to the end of an unusual year.

Things will be a little different after last year’s inaugural Christmas event in Adastral Square due to social distancing guidelines but the committee, made up entirely of volunteers, are arranging a wider reaching offer to cover more of the Heath!

There will be 4 elements to the Christmas festivities:

A Community Christmas tree will be installed in Adastral Square on Friday 4th December sponsored by Brown & Kay estate agents. The trees in the square will also be decorated with lights.

An ARCHway of lights will be another first for the Heath. ARCH volunteers will decorate the tree lined path from the Petrol Station to ASDA forming an ARCH. The lights for these will be sponsored by Chester Pearce Funeral Services. View poster here

Light Up Canford Heath is a competition in which ARCH would like the whole of Canford Heath to get involved in the festive spirit. Residents will be encouraged to take part in a “Best Decorated Home”competition. There are 2 hampers as 1st and 2nd prize for the best decorated houses .The winners will be awarded their prizes by the Mayor of Poole, Cllr Marion le Poidevin (in a socially distanced way). Residents will be invited to register their home displays at lightup.canfordheath@gmail.com to be part of a community map so people can walk around the Heath to view the very best festively decorated houses. A FREE Children’s Treasure Hunt will also be organised so that children can have a socially distanced fun activity for school holidays with some “real” treasure at the end for every participant (under 12’s). View poster here.

All of this is possible due to the generosity of our two local sponsors, Brown & Kay and Chester Pearce Funeral Services with other funding coming from ARCH funds and The National Lottery Community Fund. If you would like to volunteer to bring some Christmas cheer to your community please do get in touch.
